The City of Wetaskiwin has a long and honourable history of connections to the military. Soldiers from the local area fought in World War I, and during World War II, Wetaskiwin was home to a major army training camp. Stan Reynolds, one of our most decorated veterans, was in the Air Force during World War II. Since than, one of the commanders of the Snow Birds, Gordon Wallace, came from Wetaskiwin. The Wetaskiwin City Archives has a considerable collection of photos and memorabilia recording our past connections. Military connections, past, present and future, were high on the agenda at City Hall in recent weeks.
