Local Athletes Bring Home the Goods

The 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Wrestling wrapped up on the McArthur Island Sports Centre on Tuesday, August 8th. The medals were handed out and two Kamloops BC hometown female wrestlers walked away with a Gold and a Silver. Nunavut gathered their first two medals of the games in the colour of Bronze.
Two local kids, Colton and Grace McDonnell who have been training with Team Alberta since the trials in May brought home some metal. Colt wrestled in the 50kg male, Grace in the 43 kg female. In the team standings, Alberta brought home silver medals for both male/female teams; in the individual meet, Grace brought home a bronze (while battling a knee injury) and Colt a silver. They flew home late Tuesday night, and as both had to cut weight, they’ve been happily enjoying the foods they’ve missed!
Congratulations to both of you, great job!!
