Local 4-H Club Reports Till the End of 2011

December Report for Leduc
4H Beef Club

Well December has been a very busy month for the Leduc 4-H Beef Club, starting with Battle Lake!
On December 10th all of the 4-H members went to Battle Lake to have our yearly Christmas Party.  Activities were provided by the Social Committee and there was a lot of sledding going on.  We also did our 4-H Record Books for our steers, had a diary presentation and did a run through on Public Speaking followed by impromptu speeches.  Thank you to Mrs. ter Borgh for the diary presentations as well as Mrs. Hipkin for the public speaking activities,  Mrs. Knull for taking charge on record books and  Mr. Knull for doing a steer follow up on everyone’s steer.  We really do appreciate it!  Thank you also to the Social Committee for preparing all the wonderful and gross activities!
All good fun must come to an end and it did on December 11th.  After a good nights sleep we started with a yummy breakfast, thanks to the Battle Lake cooks, then we had our regular December meeting where we discussed Public Speaking and other dates to remember.  Our charity event this year is supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Stay tuned for more information on when and where this event will take place.  After that we all went out for one more round of sledding and then homeward bound!  We all had an awesome time!
Dates to remember are: Our next meeting is January 9th, Public Speaking competition is January 28th.  Anyone who is interested in being a judge please phone Mrs. Stacy Hipkin ,our communication leader, at 780-467-5954.  Your club reporter, Monika Knull

Porto Bello Club Report for November

Well winter is here and the horses know it. Their winter coat is in and we have to start feeding. It looks awesome watching them running in the field and the snow flying up.
On November 5 we had a clinic at Lakedell, we worked on our level assessment. Everyone worked hard and had a good time. On November 26 we had a fun day at Callahan’s. We played a game and reviewed our tack in the morning and then in the afternoon we had a bottle drive, the trucks were over flowing! We don’t have a total yet, but I am sure we did great. Our next clinic is on December 10th at Lakedell and can’t wait to get our butts back in the saddle.

Porto Bello Club Report for December

Ho Ho Ho, Merry December Buckaroos. We had our monthly meeting on December 7th, where we discussed upcoming clinic and events. The totals from the bottle drive far exceeded our expectations. Thanks to everyone who donated bottles. We had a Christmas clinic at Lakedell, on December 10th. We rode in the morning and then had a delicious potluck lunch. In the afternoon we had a Chinese gift exchange and we all had a great time. We hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
