John was born September 11, 1921 and left peacefully on July 30, 2012.
From 1942 to 1945 John served during WWII, driving a tank. Countries he served in included, England, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Holland and Belgium.
John married Olga in 1948 and settled in the Mulhurst area close to family and friends and there they raised their family. John loved farming, flying and mechanics and deeply cared for his family and friends. He delighted himself in God’s Word and his church family. We will remember the twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes, his rich laughter and his willingness to help others and the strength of quietness.
John is survived by Olga, his wife of 63 years; daughter, Patricia (Dennis), Glenn (Joanne); daughter-in-law, Linda; siblings, Vernon (Eleanor), Lawrence (Lil), Kathleen (Tom), Barbara (Zolton), Ralph (Caroline); eight grandchildren; Shane, Jason, Tyler, Carly, Jesse, Caleb, Rebecca, Sevan; five great-grandchildren, Treson, Cash, Nixon, Ayla, Blake; along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Olive Halladay; son, Clarence; sister, Gladys and brother, Harold.
Many sincere thanks from Olga and her family to family and friends for their care and support, cards of sympathy and donations to Finishing Touch Ministries Outreach of Mulhurst and other designated donations. Thanks to Leduc Extendicare for all their care of John. A funeral service was held on Tuesday August 7th at the Mulhurst Community Hall with interment at Fisherton/Rundles Mission Cemetery. Our thanks to Baker Funeral Chapel of Wetaskiwin for the arrangements.
