First Game Turnouts Griffiths- Scott Sports
Friday, September 28, 2012
Fall has arrived and it brought short days along with it. It also brought the volleyball season into play and the races for cross country have started. We Griffins had some really strong runners for the cross country and some really skilled players for volleyball. We had many wins and some losses.
Our cross country turnouts were really good. We had 18 runners from Griffiths- Scott and four of them finished in the top ten. The four that came in the top ten were Scott Monahan, Bethany Buffalo, Jennifer Schmidt and Ahlya Herrera.
Scott had an amazing run with a great turnout of second place. Bethany also did a super good job because she came in fifth. Jennifer and Ahlya also made an outstanding run. Jennifer came in sixth place and Ahlya just got in the top ten by coming in tenth place. All the other Griffins that ran also did a great job because they all tried their best and that’s all that really matters. Their next run is on September 25, 2012. I really hope to see more good turnouts in the next run coming up.
A tournament for volleyball has already come and gone. Both girls teams did fantastic, being that it was only their first tournament of the season. The junior team won three out of eight games and the senior won three out of eight games. At first the junior team was a little nervous but after the first few games rolled by they got better. I think by the time the next tournament comes they will really be ready to win. I bet there will be less losses and more wins for both of the girls teams. All it takes is a little more practice and lots of hard work and they will be so skilled they will be almost impossible to beat.
The boys volleyball team has not yet played their first game but it will be coming up soon and I am sure they are perfectly ready to fight for all wins just like the girls are.
This was a skillful way to start the kick off of volleyball season and cross country run. There are plenty more weeks for volleyball season before it’s over and that means there are lots more chances to bring home wins.
For cross country there is only one more race to run and that is giving all of the 18 cross county runners one more chance at the gold. We all know you can do it Griffins we all know you have the ability and strength to win, so lets see you win.
Yet again we are all rooting for you Griffins.
