Volleyball Results

 The high school volleyball is now in full swing as league games are played twice a week. Results to date see the Leduc Comp Boys Team in third place in the City Conference with a 6 win 1 lost record. The Tigers have defeated John Paul II of Fort Saskatchewan, Parkland Immanuel, Archbishop Jordan of Sherwood Park, Beaumont, and St Joseph.  Meanwhile the Beaumont Bandits are seeking their first Conference win.
 In girls action the Christ the King (CTK) Chargers lead Pool A of the City Conference with a 5 win 0 lost record. The Chargers victories have included John Paul II, Archbishop Jordan, Strathcona Christian and Fort Saskatchewan. The victories over John Paul II and Strathcona Christian were hard fought matches going to the full five games before CTK was victorious. The Leduc Comp girls have split their first four matches. The Tigers have defeated Beaumont and John Paul II while having lost a five game match to Strathcona Christian Academy of Sherwood Park. The crosstown rivalry saw CTK defeat Leduc Comp in three straight games. Meanwhile the Beaumont Lady Bandits defeated Maurice Lavailee for their only win in four matches.
 Games are played on Mondays and Wednesdays until October 31st with city playoffs beginning the following week ending with the Provincial Championships on November 22 to the 24th.

Bandits Nearly Steal One!

 The Leduc Tigers Football Team had been cruising right along in the Metro City Football Conference with four straight victories and first place when they met up with the Beaumont Bandits on Friday Oct. 12th.
 Beaumont had lost to Leduc in exhibition play 31-0 and maybe the Tigers underestimated the team from Beaumont, as the game was close throughout.
 Going into the game the Beaumont was also undefeated in conference play. In the end the Tigers were able to hold off the Bandits and prevent them from stealing the game as they edged the Bandits 20 to 13.
 The win secures first place for the Leduc Tigers and places them in a conference’s semifinal game on Friday Oct 26th against the winner of the quarterfinals. Meanwhile Beaumont has one game remaining in conference play against Fort Saskatchewan. A victory will guarantee a second place finish for Beaumont and a semifinal games against either St Francis Xavier or Holy Trinity.
 The Miles Conference Championships could very well see a rematch of the Bandits and the Tigers on Saturday Nov. 3rd. Maybe this time the Bandits complete the caper!
