The buzz is starting about Leduc's new FM station 93.1 The One. Country music star Terri Clark (center) stopped by to see the new studio and took the time to have some photos taken with Program Director and morning host Mike McGuire.

The anticipation is building for the general public and staff alike! 93.1 The One, Leduc's FM radio station is getting close to hitting the airwaves, and owner Mark Tamagi, is probably the most excited of all!

"We have had a lot of challenges along the way," shared Mark, "But it's really starting to come together. We are still waiting for our transmitter tower to be erected and to receive a couple more items for the studio that are being shipped in from Europe, but at this point, fingers crossed, we expect to be on the air shortly after New Years." He laughed.

With all of the technological aspects being used in the new station it will be the most up to date and advanced radio station in all of Canada. The studio is completely computerized and the entire DJ setup would fit on an ordinary desk. A far cry from the bulky tape decks, cuing machines and pre-recorded commercial files of the old stations.

Another aspect of the new station that Mark is particularly excited about is the staff that he is bringing on board. A real coup for The One, was to get experienced and very well known radio personality Mark McGuire as morning host and also part of the management team. Mark spent the last eight years at CISN Radio in Edmonton, working his way up from Promotions Host to Afternoon Drive Host, and now he's bringing his expertise and industry connections to Leduc, which will definitely give 93.1 The One a leg up in the market. These connections are already in evidence with country music star Terri Clark just "stopping by" last week to take a peek.

And for a station that isn't even on the airwaves they certainly aren't sitting back and waiting for something to happen. The One is already posting on their Twitter account and have a very active Facebook page. They are already running their first contest to see Carrie Underwood, and Mike does a video blog once a week called Mike On A Monday. They also have a video tour of the station posted on their website at www.leducfm.com for those who are interested in the progress but cannot make it down in person.

Meanwhile, Mark is also working hard to let the entire area know that they are looking to be a very inclusive business. He is in the process of making presentations to the various Town Councils within the broadcast area to encourage all the different municipalities to take an interactive role with the station and use it as a promotional tool for the whole area.

The format will be country music both old and new, with live radio personalities all day long, but changing to pre-taped programming for the overnight hours. Rest assured that The One will not be your great-grandpa's radio station though. It is noticeable from the moment you walk in to the vividly painted studio with autographed posters all over the wall, right through to some of the funny and slightly edgy station identification spots that will be played on air.

The One has been a long time in the making, beginning with Mark's first application for an FM license in 2006, but as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. And from all the early signs, Leduc's 93.1 FM is going to be a very good thing and well worth the wait!
