Weeks of snow and cold are on the way but so is basketball season at GSMS. The nets for volleyball have been taken down and the basketball hoops have been lowered for play. Also a bomb of sad news hits Griffins-Scott School.
The turn out for volleyball was ok but no medals were taken home. The senior girls did alright. They made it to the playoffs, they just couldn’t make it a medal in the playoffs. That is ok though because they tried their best and played their hardest. The senior boys finished their season early because they could not make it to the playoffs. The junior girls did the best out of them all because they made it to playoffs and to the bronze medal match. In the bronze medal game they came very close to winning it, but they lost. That was alright because they still got fourth place out of twelve teams. Griffiths- Scott is proud of all the teams for showing good sportsmanship and effort. Well done teams. Now it is time for basketball… can’t wait to see the turnouts.
On Friday, November 23 Griffins-Scott school had some very sad teachers and students. This is because we have lost a teacher. Her name was Jackie Nicol also known as Mrs. Nicol. She had worked at Griffins-Scott school for a very long time as an elementary teacher. Last year Jackie left at the beginning of the year because she got sick. She didn’t come back for the rest of the year because she found out she had cancer. Mrs. Smith (a teacher at Griffins-Scott) was very good friends with Jackie and visited her all the time and she said, “Jackie fought that cancer as hard as she could, but it won in the long run”.
The death of Jackie Nicol makes lots of people heavy-hearted. She was a very nice and intelligent woman. The flags at the school are lowered to show respect to her. She will be missed and loved for the rest of time. Rest in Peace Jackie Nicol. Our school will never be the same without you.
