Nicol Stone Leimert

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Nicol Stone Leimert on January 24, 2013 at the age of 36 years following a mighty and courageous battle with cancer.
Nicol was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her contagious laugh, genuine smile, endless compassion and generosity.
Nicol will lovingly be remembered by her husband Evan; son Bode; parents Glen and Donna Stone; grandmothers Wilma Stone and Tillie Krause; sister Michelle (Scott) Auclair; mother and father in-law Lydean and Lawrence Leimert; sister in law Dixie (Carl) Larsen; nieces and nephew Coby, Macy and Brock (Auclair), Carlie and Jorja (Larsen); aunts and uncles; Sandra and Stan MacEachern, John Krause, Pat and Dale Black, Neil and Joan Stone and Dan Normandeau; many cousins and countless friends.Nicol was predeceased by her grandfathers Ed Stone and Art Krause and Aunt Carol Normandeau.
Nicol was born in Wetaskiwin and raised there on her parent’s farm where she lived until she left to attend college in Red Deer.  After receiving her diploma in Social work she went on to earn her degree with Mount Royal College. While working on her education she continued to work with the 4H foundation. 
Nicol’s love for helping others was evident in everything she did.  She spent many years with 4H providing youth leadership and guidance on a number of levels throughout the province.  She then went on to become a highly respected and admired Social Worker touching countless lives through her dedicated years with the CNIB in Edmonton, AB.  Her passion for leadership along with her entrepreneur instincts also led her to success as she built her home based businesses. With everything she did, she made a difference. And yet the roles that brought Nicol the utmost joy and happiness was being a mother to her precious son Bode and wife to her loving husband Evan.  She marveled at making a house their family home for the past 5 ½  years in Kelowna, BC.Nicol truly lived her short life to the fullest and left a lasting impression with all that knew her.   She was loved and will be indescribably missed by many.
A service to celebrate Nicol’s life took place on February 6th  at 1:00 p.m. at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Centre.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either; “Trust Fund for Bode Leimert” accepted at any BMO branch, The Red Cross, The Vancouver General Hospital or the Alberta 4H Foundation.
