In 2A girls’ action the Christ the King Chargers defeated John Paul II from Fort Saskatchewan in quarterfinal action. CTK hosted the Patriots on Monday March 4th and quickly took charge of the game with a stellar defense and a potent offense as they took and early 15 to 5 advantage and never looked back.
This victory advanced CTK into the semis against the #1 ranked Strathcona Christian Academy (SCA) Eagles of Sherwood Park. The game was played on Wednesday, March 6th with SCA ending CTK’s season with a convincing 77 to 40 victory. SCA took the zone title when they swamped JH Picard 84 to 33. SCA advances to the provincial championships to be played in the far north at La Crete School this weekend.
Meanwhile the CTK boys’ team played their last game of the season when they travelled to Fort Saskatchewan to play John Paul II. The Patriots were too much for the Chargers as they fell by a score of 82 to 42. The Patriots advanced to the semis where they lost 95 to 57 to the #1 ranked Eagles of SCA. SCA met the Millwoods Christian Royals on Thursday March 7th and won the zone championship 81 to 41. Because Edmonton was awarded a wildcard selection both teams advanced to this weekend’s provincial championship in Lethbridge.
