Leduc Tigers Bounce Back
The Leduc Comp Lady Tigers clawed their way into the win column on Thursday, Oct 3rd as they scratched their way to a 3 sets to 2 victory over the Eagles from Strathcona Christian Academy (SCA). The Eagles began the match with a victory before Leduc was able to win the next two sets to take control of the match. However, the Eagles were not done and took the fourth set before the girls from Leduc settled things by winning the fifth and final set. None of the sets were easy victories as both teams had the ability to come back from large deficits to make every game exciting and nail-biting for the spectators. Earlier in the week the Leduc girls had lost their first league game to the Beaumont Bandits 3 sets to 1. This week the Tigers will play McNally and Lillian Osborne. The game against Lillian Osborne will be tonight at the Leduc Comp beginning at 4:45pm
Meanwhile the Christ the King (CTK) Lady Chargers bounced back from an early week lost to J. Percy Page by defeating the Stingers from Fort Saskatchewan 3 to 1. This win move the CTK girls into a tie for 2nd place in their division with a 3 wins and 1 lost record. The Metro League announced that Amiskwaciy had withdrawn from the league. As a result CTK’s game against them on Monday was cancelled and they will play tonight at Queen Elizabeth.
In boys action the Leduc Tigers continued on their winning ways by defeating the SCA Eagles in straight sets 3 to 0. Currently the Tigers are leading their Pool and have yet to drop a set. This week they hosted Austin O’Brien on Tuesday and tonight host Lillian Osborne at 6:15pm.
The CTK boys are an inexperienced team that shows improvement every time out but has yet to breakthrough with a victory as they fell to Fort Saskatchewan 3 to 0 on Thursday, Oct. 3rd. The team hosted the Alberta School for the Deaf on Monday, Oct 7th and then travelled to Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, Oct 10th.
