Council Notes From All Over
CITY OF LEDUC
Call to Order: Mayor Greg Krischke called the Tuesday, Nov. 15th City Council Meeting to order at 7pm with all aldermen present.
Approval of Minutes: The Agenda for the meeting was approved and the Minutes from the September 23rd meeting were approved.
Presentation: Alderman Terry Lazowski and Mayor Greg Krischke presented to Kelly Sarnecki in behalf of the Mark Hayduk Memorial Street Hockey Tournament Leduc’s Achievement Award.
Public Hearing: A public hearing was held for the following Bylaws: #823-2013, #833-2013, 835-2013, and 836-2013. No presentations were made.
New Business: The Richard Cender Memorial Slo-Pitch Tournament was awarded a grant for $1,750.00 to off set the cost of rental for the William F. Lede Park diamonds.
Council awarded a $2,500.00 grant to the Tyson Parker Commitment to Life Society to off set the rental cost of the LRC for their annual STARS fundraiser.
Council received information concerning a proposal for a grant regarding Information Technology Regional Collaboration.
Council also received information about the possibility of how NorQuest College could be involved in the future development of high schools in the west side of Leduc.
By-Laws: Second and Third Readings were given and passed for the following By-Laws; #823-2013 Sawridge Business Park, #833-2013 Amendment to LUB, Telford Industrial Overlay, #835-2013 Text amendments to LUB, and $836-2013 the Redistricting Plan 1322735, Block 2 Lot 1ER & 2MR. First, Second, and Third Reading was given and approved for Bylaw #838-2013 which amended the Taxi Livery Bylaw to allow third parties to negotiate a fee for service for their patrons.
Reports From Administration: The Downtown Heritage Inventory was presented by City Planner April Renneberg to city council and received unanimous approval. Alderman Glen Finstad thanked a number of individuals who were actively involved in the completion of the Inventory.
Tribute: The meeting ended with a tribute to Dominic Mishio from each of his fellow Aldermen and Mayor Krischke. In turn Alderman Mishio spoke about his time on council and the help his fellow aldermen and the mayor had provided him as he learned the “ropes”. He ended with wishing them success in the coming election and the best for the city.
