God Is So Great

God is so very, very great, far beyond total understanding by any mere human mind.  However, as we seek to know Him, worship Him, read and obey His Word, and share with others who are also seeking to follow Him, we can learn a considerable amount about Him and we can come to live in relationship with Him.  We can get to know Him well enough to find our greatest joy and delight in some of the moments spent with Him.  But the better we get to know Him, the more we will recognize how far He is beyond us, the more we will realize that there are mysteries in God which we can never fully understand.  When we consider all that we can know of God and get a peek at the vast areas beyond our understanding, we can only be filled with wonder, amazement, and awe.
We can understand that God created everything that exists; that scientists, humans, can only explore, discover, and use that which God made in the first place.  We can understand that He created, but we don't know how He did it.  We have discovered many of the rules and systems which He devised to continue the orderly and predictable workings of creation and its various parts, and the more we know, the more we marvel.  Oh, I am well aware that somewhat over half of all top scientists, in the arrogance and pride of knowing that they have greater basic intelligence than 95 to 98 per cent of people, have accepted the atheists' lie that there is no God; but at the same time I know that close to half of the top scientists with the same levels of high intelligence recognize that there is far more evidence that supports the existence of God and that belief in God is far more logical than disbelief.  Historically, it was the belief in an intelligent Creator God which provided the philosophical basis for the scientific method for exploring a rational and predictable universe.  Certainly, the beauty and complexity of His creation inspires awe and worship of the Creator if we have eyes and hearts to see.
It is easy to say that God is omnipotent, all-powerful, but harder to understand.  It means that He not only created all that exists with all the power and potential power within that creation, but that He still has in Himself greater power than the power in all creation.  Such power is beyond what we can actually comprehend.
It is easy to say that God is omniscient, all-knowing, but the implications are mind-boggling.  It means that He has all the knowledge that humanity has discovered or developed, and then some.  It means that He knows you and I better than we know ourselves; that He knows our every thought and the number of hairs on our heads.  He knows and understands the biggest concept, He knows and understands the tiniest detail, and He knows how all the details fit into the biggest picture.  Wow!
It is easy to say that God is omnipresent, present everywhere at once, but very hard to comprehend.  Even more amazing is that God the Holy Spirit actually lives within every believer.  His constant presence is one of the most wonderful things about Him.
All of these things about God are very impressive, but pretty impersonal.  The most impressive, the most awe inspiring thing about God is His love for each human being.  This great God, who is so far beyond us in every way, loves us so much that He came to earth to live a human life as an example to us, then died in our place so that we can be reconciled to Him, and rose again to prove His identity and to assure us of His promise that we can be with Him forever and ever.  That is love beyond our comprehension.
